 Original manuscripts are accepted by researchers (members of the NNI or other professionals) provided that they follow the conditions of the bulletin's publication.

 Authors should submit:

  • The manuscripts should be sent through the website.
  • 4 sets of original illustrations clearly labeled save as (JPG).
  • A signed manuscript form confirming that the work is original, the manuscript is neither under consideration for publication nor has it been published elsewhere until the decision of its acceptance by the Editors of the Bulletin, nor will it be submitted to any other publisher on the cover litter.
  • Authors should also identify 3-6 keywords or short phrases that capture the main topics, ideas or content of the article. 

Responsibilities of Authors:

  • Accuracy of all statements and data in the manuscript.
  • Accuracy of all references.
  • Patients consent or approval from a unit of experimental animals and all ethical considerations in the study.
  • Obtaining permission from authors/ publishers of any previously published material included in the manuscript.
  • All correspondence about the manuscript is the responsibility of the corresponding author.
  • Informed consent from identifiable photos. 

Submission for publication:

  • Implies that it is not being considered for publication elsewhere and has not been published before in any form.
  • Once the articles have been accepted for publication they become the sole property of the publisher and any other party should obtain clear written consent from the publisher before publishing them. 

Submission of Manuscripts:

Manuscripts are accepted in English [Please write your text in good English (American or British usage is accepted, but not a mixture of these)] or Arabic language and should be accompanied by a brief summary in the other language in a separate sheet. Manuscripts should be typewritten double-spaced in the regular style on one side only of papers size A4.  Margins should be 3 cm on each side.  Text should only be left-sided justified, with font (Times New Roman) and size (12). It is important that the file be saved in the native format of the word processor used. The text should be in single-column format. PDF proofs are sent to authors in order that they make sure that the paper has been correctly set up in type. Corrected proofs should be returned within 3 days either by mail or web. 

Cover Letter

  • One or more authors have been designated as the corresponding authors.
  • Provide a cover letter indicating the name, mailing address, telephone, fax number, and e-mail address of the corresponding author.
  • The cover letter must state that: all authors listed have contributed to the work
  • All authors have read, approved and agreed to submit the manuscript to BNNI
  • No part of the work has been published before, except in abstract form
  • All human and animal studies have been reviewed by the appropriate ethics committees.
  • All authors should be signature on cover letter  
Layout of Manuscripts:  

Manuscripts should be arranged as follows:

Title:

Titles with font (Calibri) and size (18 Bold). Should be brief (20 words maximum)with space.

Abstract:

Should be brief (250 words maximum) with space should briefly describe background for study, purpose, goal, objective, subjects or materials, methods, main results, findings, conclusion.

Keywords from 3-6 words

The headings:

The headings and subheadings start with "1. Introduction", appear in upper and lower case letters and should be set in bold, aligned flush left and with font (Calibri) size 16. All headings from the Introduction to Acknowledgements are numbered sequentially using 1, 2, 3, etc. Subheadings are numbered 1.1, 1.2, etc.  If a subsection must be further divided, the numbers 1.1.1, 1.1.2, etc.  The font size for the heading is 11 points in boldface and subsections with 10 points and not bold. Do not underline any of the headings, or add dashes, colons, etc.

Introduction:

Background including nature and extent of the problem, research purpose, objective or tested hypothesis

Subjects or materials and Methods:

  • Should be described clearly precisely and briefly to enable others to repeat the study experiment.
  • Study should be per ethical standards of research. 
  • Selection methods/ criteria and exclusion criteria should be described clearly.
  • Statistical methods should be briefly and clearly described. 

Results:

  • Should be represented precisely, usually avoiding repetition and supported by appropriate evidence/ statistics.
  • Contents of the table should be described in the summary but not repeated in text.

Discussion:

  • Should contain an interpretation of results not a summary or repetition of previous results.

Conclusion:

  • A conclusion section must be included and should indicate clearly the advantages, limitations, and possible applications of the paper.  Although a conclusion may review the main points of the paper, do not replicate the abstract as the conclusion. A conclusion might elaborate on the importance of the work or suggest applications and extensions

Acknowledgments:

  • An acknowledgment section may be presented after the conclusion if desired

Illustration and Tables:

  • To ensure a high-quality product, diagrams, and lettering MUST be either computer-drafted
  • Figure captions appear below the figure, are flush left, and are in lowercase letters. When referring to a figure in the body of the text, the abbreviation "Fig." is used. Figures should be numbered in the order they appear in the text
  • Written consent should be submitted with photos showing identifiable subjects.
  • All illustrations should be numbered according to the citation in the text.
  • Table titles should be written above tables and numbered according to the citation in text.
  • Table captions appear centered above the table in upper and lower case letters. When referring to a table in the text, no abbreviation is used and "Table" is capitalized

References:

Should follow the following order:

Within the text, each reference should be cited using the surnames of authors and the year e.g. (Sorour 2003) or Sorour and Abdel Hafez (2005) or (Sorour et al., 2002). Citations may be made directly (or parenthetically). Groups of references should be listed first alphabetically, then chronologically. Examples: 'as demonstrated (Allan, 2000a, 2000b, 1999; Allan and Jones, 1999).

Reference List:

Should follow the following order:

References should be arranged first alphabetically order according to first author and then further sorted chronologically if necessary. More than one reference from the same author(s) in the same year must be identified by the letters 'a', 'b', 'c', etc., placed after the year of publication. 

  • Name of author (s) initials as capital letters, title of article, journal, year of publication, volume number, and page number.

For journal articles:

  • Brown M, Evans M, McIntosh M. (2001):

For article or chapter in edited book:

  • Note that the thesis title is set in italics and the university that granted the degree is listed along with location information

Publication Charges

Page (B5 ISO) charges 50 EGP for Egyptian research or 30 $ USA for foreign. Payment is on the Fund account number of National Nutrition Institute (9/450/85/881/6) before the reviewer with proof of payment.
