This study aimed to early recognition of the carcinogenic effect of N-nitrosodiethlyamine (NDEA) on hepatocytes and expression of Fas-L and Caspase-3. The study was done using tissue homogenate of 60 male albino rats divided into 2 groups: group 1,control group (30 rats) and Group 2, -N-nitrosodiethylamine (NDEA) treated group (NDEA, in a single dose 200 mg/Kg wt and; Carbon tetrachloride (CCL4), twice per week 3 ml/Kg wt) (30 rats). 10 rats from each control and treated group were sacrificed at the 1st, 2n , and 3rd months of the treatment for evaluation (1) of glutathione s transferase(GST), glutathione peroxidase (GPx), glutathione reductase (GRase), glutathione reduced form (GSH), superoxide dismutase (SOD) levels, (2) studying expression of Fas-L and Caspase-3 and (3) for histopathological examination. The results revealed that the treated group antioxidant enzymes levels (Glutathione family and SOD) showed a significant decrease with gradual rates through the three months of the treated compared to the control group, whereas the GRase level was significantly increased compared to the control group. Caspase-3 and Fas-L in liver tissue homogenate in the treated group was significantly decreased in comparison with the control group. The histopathological results showed pronounced changes with evident fatty degeneration (steatosis), marked microvascular steatosis with malignant hepatocytes amounting grade 1. Finally, study can conclude that investigation of liver tissue markers induced by the chemical carcinogen NDEA at different stages of the development of cancer could help in getting more information about the development of HCC and more investigated studies on Caspase-3 and Fas-L, could be a promising way for the treatment of HCC.}, keywords = {Caspase-3,FAS-L expression- hepatocellular carcinoma}, url = {https://bnni.journals.ekb.eg/article_14155.html}, eprint = {https://bnni.journals.ekb.eg/article_14155_63e7799708dc06ed4a4da53f00c637e7.pdf} } @article { author = {Afifi, Tarek and El-Ashmawy, Aml and El-Fakharany, Nadia}, title = {Evaluation of the therapeutic diet for enhancement of acne status}, journal = {Bulletin of the National Nutrition Institute of the Arab Republic of Egypt}, volume = {51}, number = {1}, pages = {19-38}, year = {2018}, publisher = {The National Nutrition Institute}, issn = {1110-0974}, eissn = {2537-0987}, doi = {10.21608/bnni.2018.14160}, abstract = {Medical nutrition therapy was as a potential treatment for acne because it play very important role in control on condition. The objective of this study was to identify the role of diet on pathogenesis and enhancement of acne cases. The study included30 patients with mean age (12-24 y) with two degrees of acne (mild and sever) .they were divided into three groups every group included 10 patients (5 males and 5 females) The first group treated by drug, second group treated by experimental diet and third group treated by both of drug and experimental diet .The study began in the period from April 2015 to December 2016. Our results showed that correlation coefficient food intake with biochemical analysis in the studied groups .There relationship between deficiency vitamins with deficiency GSH and increased androgens hormones .also, there was correlated between deficiency zinc, calcium, magnesium and vitamins with increased cholesterol, triglycerides, and androgen hormones .also, there was high significant correlation positive between deficiency ca, mg zinc intake with decrease GST. In this respect, probiotic play a prominent role. Thence this study aimed to estimate the chemical constituents of kefir and kefir grain and identify the potential protective effect of probiotic (yoghurt/ kefir milk / kefir grain) to diminish the risk of lead (Pb) intoxication on male rats. Biological study was administered on forty two male rats which allotted into 6 groups involved negative control group (7 rats) , normal group consumed kefir milk and four groups which treated 50 mg of lead/kg body weight per day as testicular toxicant and classified into positive control group (+ve) , subgroups : yoghurt, kefir milk and kefir grain subgroups. The results revealed that all experimental treatments enhanced liver and kidney functions , antioxidant parameters and testosterone hormone levels, luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle stimulating hormone level (FSH) the most prominent positive effects were perceived in the group that consumed kefir milk and kefir grain. These acquired results are assured by the histopathological examination. In the present study, the protective effect of kefir milk and kefir grain against lead toxicity in rats was become well. Presentstudy aimed to investigate the effects of different doses of orange peels on blood glucose, lipid profile and some physiological parameters as liver and kidney functions in diabetic and hypercholesterolemic rats. Rats were divided into 3 main groups, first main group negative control, second main group diabetic rats and third main group hypercholesterolemia. Second and third main groups were divided into four sub- groups (six rats / group) and fed with different diet levels of orange peels (5%, 7.5%, and 10%) for 28 days. Bodyweight gain, feed intake, feed efficiency ratio and relative weight of some organs were calculated at the end of experiment. Fasting blood sample were taken for determination of serum glucose, total cholesterol, triglycerides, creatinine, urea, aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine aminotransferase (ALT). There was a significant reduction in both serum total cholesteroland Triglycerides in all treated groups with orange peels. The higher peels doses improved liver and kidney functions. However, the highest reduction was achieved by feeding diabetic rats with 10% orange peels. Flavored paste was filled in glass jars covered with olive oil and stored for 180days at room temperature. Olive paste samples were analyzed for physicochemical properties and sensoryevaluation.PH values of the pastes were ranged 3.20 to 4.30.There were significant difference between olive paste without addition and olive paste with basil after 180days of storage, on other hand the olive paste with dried tomatoeshad no significant difference after storage. HPLC results show differences of phenolic compounds between pastes. The processing and storage time increased the chromaticity coordinate L*, a* and b* in the samples. Texture analysis showedsignificant difference only of olive paste with dried tomatoes.Sensory evaluation appeared some of differences of samples, the odor of olive paste with basil andappearance of olive paste with tomatoeshad a highly pleasant, but the olivepaste without addition had ahighly pleasant of taste and overall acceptability. }, keywords = {Olive paste,Dried Basil,Sun-Dried tomatoes}, url = {https://bnni.journals.ekb.eg/article_14165.html}, eprint = {https://bnni.journals.ekb.eg/article_14165_b472348a16681878f5ed20723dc9596e.pdf} }
